Joy can be described as the physical well-being and eternal comfort of an individual. By eternal safety, Gibbons relates it to the satisfaction of the heart and soul. Consequently, joy can be considered an outcome of love and not vice versa. From his perspective, love from God and fellowmen contribute significantly to the physical good and eternal comfort of an individual. For instance, love from God (John 3:16) prompted Him the Father to send his son Jesus Christ as a sacrifice so that sin and grace could co-exist simultaneously (King James Version).
