Teaching and Concept: Lesson- Obesity among high school adolescent students
Obesity as a health problem affects both young people, middle age, and the old with statistics showing that in the developing countries such as the United States and Canada the rate of obesity is significantly high. According to Center for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) (2019), obesity rate across age group was considerably higher in children adolescents than other categories, 20.6 percent among adolescents as compared to 13.9 percent among children aged 2 to 5 years. Therefore, this project focuses on teaching high school children, who in cognitive developmental stages are between 12 and 19 years, about obesity. This category of learners in the lesson are knowledgeable in aspects nutrition and types of food based on categories. The learners are also from different ethnic groups; 4 are Hispanics, 3 African Americans, and 8 whites.
