The Internet of things is a system of interrelated and Internet-connected objects that can collect and transfer or translate the data over a wireless network with no human intervention in the process. Internet of things is understood as the rapidly growing network of connected devices that communicate real-time data using embedded sensors. Some of the things that operate under the influence of the Internet of things are cars, refrigerators, wristwatches, and mobile phones. The most common device used by many in their homes and workplaces is the mobile phone and sensor-activated wristwatches.
As a future health professional, using the Internet of things will be of great help to the professionals to watch and connect with the patients proactively. The Internet of things devices tagged with sensors are used for tracking the real-time location of medical equipment like ambulances, nebulizers, oxygen pumps, and wheelchairs. There will be a need for research to enable these devices to respond to the needs of the patients without any other human interventions in the form of professionals.
The Internet of things has helped individuals make their lives easy by improving connectivity with other associates, which increases the efficiency of each person's output in their areas of involvement. This translates to convenience, such as in ordering things from the sale store. The business sector has brought new opportunities to view the business operation from any point of location. It also enables managers to focus on the future and maximize the profit possibilities. In healthcare, it improved the monitoring of people with chronic diseases through sensor tagged devices.
