The existence of music is in each cultural group in the world and there is a likelihood of its existence among the ancestral communities. People have different perspectives when it comes to music. For instance, some people may see jazz music as an orchestral symphony, set or simple things like chirping birds. Music has been developing from the Gregorian chant to the Renaissance in different ways and it can be grouped according to the years of development. The Georgian chant was mainly sung by nuns and monks, especially during religious practices.
The first period of music in history is the Middle Ages which is also known as the Medieval period which instigated in the collapse of the Roman Empire. The period was the era of the Georgian chant which was monophonic meaning that the composition was using a single melody and did not have any accompaniment (Killin, 2018). In 700 to 900, the first steps in music were taken in the revolution that led to the transformation of western music. Second melodic lines stated to be added by monks to the Gregorian chant. It led to the development of organum which is the medieval music consisting of Gregorian chant with an additional melodic line.
