Ethics Make Organizations.
Organizations have been subjected to conditions of taking personal responsibilities on their personnel .This is to enhance great output, both on moral and professional attributes of the company and its employees. In the USA this cases have been regularly reported and therefore the government had to make changes on its company’s policies. Through the increasing cases of such behaviors in the courts of USA the establishment of regulations that ensure organizations and companies take full responsibilities of the actions of the people they hire was implemented so as to avoid such cases in future. By making this adjustments a great improvement on protecting the image of the affected organizations and protection of the general public from wrong or inaccurate information has been observed.
However, as opposed to some individuals and managers, Ethics has everything to do with management. The actions of an individual may reflect the attitudes, beliefs, language and behavior of an organization (Paine, 1994). With the provision of The Federal sentencing guidelines of organizations, the sentencing of the wrong doers has become an easy process on legal grounds. The managerial and organizational root of wrong doing is established making. This ensures the organization protects its integrity wholesomely: image through its personnel. Therefore the organization is fully held responsible of the wrong the done by the workers they hired. However this can be hard to control since many workers end up breaking the organizations rules and therefore affect the company in many different ways. This is the reason why it is always advisable for a company or an organization to check on the background of their employees before hiring them.
In the case study of Sarbanes- Oxley act of 2002, the company was enacted due to many corporative and accounting scandals reported in the USA. (Jain et al, 2006). This regulations ensured that internal audits and information disseminated to the public are consistent to the real record and performance of the organization and that the conditions and changes in the organization are communicated to the public urgently and in an easy language for comprehension. In the USA when a company tries to contravening with this regulations it can basically earn them up between 5 years and 20 years imprisonment.
This regulations had their own impact both intended an unintended. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) of 2002. Most companies and organizations were compelled to have more directors and even external directors. After this act, the insurance premiums hiked to unreasonable measures and therefore, leading to high operation costs (Jain et al, 2006). However, not all companies and organizations had to complain about the changes, as a matter of fact some of the organizations have enjoyed a better workmanship and public trust due to controlled and efficient recruitment of personnel.
In the early 1980s, only two years after joining the company, the CEO found evidence
Suggesting that the apple juice concentrate, supplied by the company’s vendors for use in
Beech-Nut’s “100% pure” apple juice, contained nothing more than sugar water and chemicals, which would be a bad image for the company if the public found out that they were being ripped off by the company. Therefore, the biggest challenge the CEO had was to bring the sanity of the company back. No matter how easy this might sound, it had its own challenges, in which one of the greatest task was to change the workers point of view, since majority of workers in the corporation had the doubts for many years before the arrival of the new CEO but never had the courage to come forward and complain about the matter, since it can end up with one of them losing their jobs for betraying the company. To maintain the sales, the company offered 25% offer on their bogus juice concentrate. A ne...
