Prejudice, Stereotypes, Discrimination, and Privilege
Stereotypes are ideas or an identity that people can have against another class of people regarding the image portrayed. Stereotypes can be termed as good and evil, depending on the group of people regarded (Sunstein, 2017). Stereotypes are termed as being prejudice. It is because what the class of people portrayed in the outside world, may be different from the inside of the people present in the group.
I have experienced the judgment on the stereotypes in the region where I stay. Being masculine, the people around me had an image of being a sporty person and one who likes to attend the gym each time. Masculinity in me emanated through the genes present in our family, but our neighbors expected me to be visiting the gym and play sports. They kept coming to me for a gym advice and how to gain muscles. It was due to the image that they portrayed about me.
