Are there any standards that really define whether someone is more beautiful than the other? We always say that everyone is unique in their own way or true beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. This should also apply when it comes to beauty standards.
The expectation of modern women in terms of beauty standards is out of touch with reality, making it difficult for them to attain their desired goals. In reality, there shouldn’t be any type of standard for anyone to look beautiful. In the name of trying to upgrade their bodies to meet specific standards, what they’re truly doing is losing the stability of both their mind and health. The beauty expectation in today’s society has been set so high making it unachievable .
The beauty models or icons that modern-day people are forced to look up to only exist in fairy-tales and movies. None exist in real life. From the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the evil queen would ask the mirror who is the fairest of them all. The mirror would always bestow this honor on Snow White. This was mainly due to her flawless whiter than snow skin complexion (Yan & Bissell, 2014).
