Can you imagine that you have just decided to expand the household pack in order to incorporate additional companions; labs. You look for a number of them in order to avoid intimidating your demure girl. Eventually you find the best lab from the shelter that seems to be perfect, but you forget one very important thing "they are eight month old and hence have a lot of growing to do”.
Three years ago I was forced to give away three dogs because of growing jealousy between them. The first one was called Muc Muc which is a Vietnamese word meaning ink black. Muc Muc was a Labrador retriever that was brought by my daughter when was just two weeks old. Muc was a calm dog. When she attained one year we resolved to get a companion for Muc.
We decided to adopt another Lab from Humane Society shelter, and name her Coco. Coco had a long story. The shelter told us that the small brown and white Dog was formerly called Reggie, as we looked at her lying in her pen. The shelter was really friendly and the people liked their services.
We had only spent five months in the area, but everywhere we went we would hear people talking about Humane Society shelter as the most welcoming shelter for Dogs. But before we settled with Muc Muc we felt something was still missing as a tried to settle into our new life with just a single Lab and we thought a number of them couldn’t hurt .And that the time that we heard about Coco’s advertisement on the local news
Before taking Coco with us, the Shelter indicated that they had received a huge number of calls and mail requests but said that the people who came down to see her did not look like "Lab lover "it sounded funny for us .Whatever that meant .It means that they must have thought I
Looked like one of their desires prospects for Coco. However , we first that that the Shelter might have misjudged us by giving us Coco and all her things which included a dog pad, one bag of toys which were almost brand new tennis balls, dishes and a letter from her previous owner
See, Coco did not hit it off when we arrived home with her. She was not used to her new friend Muc and us .We struggled for more than two weeks for her to adjust to this new environment. I too was struggling to adapt and found this too much alike between us and Coco. For some reason, her toys got tossed up with all of our unpacked boxes. I guess we did not really have it in mind that she would be in need of her old staff again and I personally resolved to get her new toys once we settled in. However, it became pretty clear that she was not going to.
Two week after we found progress with Muc and Coco we added two more Labs from my brother .One of them had a long white hair and was called Cup .The fourth lab was a male named Twikle .Twikle was alder than the other three. He couldn’t eat meat since he was allergic to it .However he loved eating fish and vegetables .Sometime he could eat food similar to that of Muc Muc and the other and she could get rashes.
We spent lot resources and money on them, purchasing new toys, their new house, and travel cases. When we got home from work the Labs ran towards us waiting for the new treats. We would hug them although we still had small complication with Coco since she had not adapted to the new owners but things were still fine and kept our hopes that with time she shall come to adapt.
The four labs occupied one bedroom and a den. One day when we were taking a rest in the living room, the labs were in the den I was amazed seeing Coco use her front legs to open the door .the other two; Cup and Twinkle was trying hard to help Coco out. Muc Muc was just lying behind them watching the action .They ran towards where I was sited and when they saw me I took the Labs back in the den and left a small space open at the den for me to see them open again.
I set the Camera in a better position to get the right capture of what they were doing, but this time round Coco and the other two except Muc Muc stuck their heads in the small space and did not use their legs to push the door open. One day I decided to cut Cup’s hair, but when I put her back together with the others, Coco and Cup began to fight and was forced to separate them .The other two watched the action from their doghouse.
Another day, when I was holding Coco in the rest room for some hours and then put her back in the den, Coco and cup started to fight again. My brother said that they were jealous of each other .I sort to take both of them at the same time and put them on my lap and both seemed to be happy about that. Another time I put one of them on the floor and then the other after some minutes and this time they fought hard.
This happened several time to a point where both were bleeding. Muc Muc would run to her doghouse .I was really scared and thought that we had to put Cup for adoption since she was the most jealous even though the decision was hard. The other three Labs were comfortable with each other till some month later and the fight started again this time was Coco and Twinkle. Every time Muc Muc would see the two Labs fight she would run to her house .Almost after a years I sort to give up Coco and Twinkle to the Shelter for adoption.
Since then we remained with Muc. She likes jumping on our bed early in the morning as we slept to sleep with me. I wish the four of them could have gone together like this .I still miss the other three and I think Muc Muc also misses them too.
We enter to the final phase of my story of my four Labs. Somehow as we sat in the living room we filth that Muc Muc could be feeling lonely and opted to add another one more Lab to be her companion. Suddenly years after we gave up the other three labs memories flooded back and in between my tears I could laugh loud .I missed the three dogs
We had a number of unconventional meeting with the shelter .We understood that one could get a dog online but we opted to go the physical way. This was a casual effort from my side, cruising through various dog Shelters, reviewing the best lab for our family and Muc too and surely a well behave dog.
All the other three dogs had bizarre behaviors as I indicated earlier. They all fit to be the Goofball dogs. This time round I had to add more concerted effort in order to find an older Lab and a soft companion to Muc Muc, one that had exemplary characteristics .Chewing, barking and maybe howling would never be any existing characteristics of our older pal, specifically perfection.
My sup rice came a day through a mail "You’ve got a mail" .The mail was a mysterious note from a person I did not know ,indication the availability of an older Lab but the mail did not have any other details other than the contac...
