Coffee is one of the most common drinks that people value for its magical influence on human brain. The benefits of coffee include alertness, wakefulness, careful attention, and ability to focus. However, coffee consumption is not a guarantee for improved intellectual activity. It is impossible to claim that caffeine is a reliable memory-stimulating substance that would fit the health needs of every person because of individual circadian rhythms, amount of caffeine consumption, and a person’s age.
Many scientists believe that mental processing significantly improves under the influence of caffeine. Alertness and wakefulness, which many individuals experience after drinking coffee, are the results of the influence of caffeine on A1 and A2 receptors (Zhou et al., 2018). A recent study that included young adults identified the connection between caffeine consumption and improved memorization of information during the morning hours (Sherman et al., 2016). The state of alertness that caffeine provides is the outcome of the influence of coffee on the way the human brain starts functioning. In this way, an individual becomes more attentive, which leads to the focus on the information and accuracy in processing it. So, if used properly, caffeine increases the concentration of an individual as well as increases the speed of thinking processes.
On the contrary, one of the main reasons caffeine is not a reliable substance for improving cognitive functions lies in the differences in testing caffeine consumption during different periods of the day. In addition, the amount of
