At the workplace is essential to ensure every working person has a sense of autonomy and ensures a conducive working environment, increasing production output. Employee morale is improved by the presence of strategies that promote their privacy, leading them to implement their working skills and experiences to ensure that organizational goals and objectives are achieved. Privacy in the working environment is achieved after implementing laws and regulations to ensure every person stays in his or her lanes. The laws and regulations that impact privacy in the workplace include legal and ethical aspects of electronic monitoring, guiding employers in overseeing data recorded by electronic devices in workstations. This helps in providing information that protects workers from false accusations of violating the company policies. Laws and regulations governing the monitoring of devices in the firm ensure that workers have the right to defend themselves based on reviewed data from the devices. (Clayton, et al. 2019)
The organization has the responsibility of implementing drug testing in the work place to ensure employees are free from mistakes committed in the workplace by people under alcohol influence. In the working environment, people are tested in the morning to ensure they are under sober minds to limit misunderstanding during production activities. The workers join their effort to ensure the targeted results are achieved, unlike a working environment consisting of a mixture of drug addict workers and sober employees that may lead to chaos during production execution (Hatamian, et al. 2019). What constitutes a reasonable monitoring policy is a law that requires employers only to monitor available devices that do not interfere with the workers' social life. This helps in ensuring equal supervision among the workers reducing stigmatization among them. The workers have free interactions within the workstation due to the operational activities' generalization monitoring while in the firm's environment.
According to Denman, (2019), employee monitoring is the process through which the employers survey employee activities using different surveillance techniques. The employer chooses to monitor the employees to evaluate remote workforce performance. This helps in measuring the progress of the production activities in the firm. The employer also proactively detects insider threats that result from the employees. This is achieved by using employee monitoring software that monitors the movement of the workers within the organizational environment. The employer monitors the systems' usage to determine the exchange of information among the workers and intruders. This helps the organization in preventing vulnerabilities that result from its workers. The organization also monitors its workers to meet audit and compliance regulations to ensure that it operates within the authorized standards. The occurrence of risks infirm is minimized hence enhancing the auditing process in organizational resources and production activities. The audit response is compiled within the shortest time possible.
The employer also monitors employees to ensure an improvement in team productivity. Employee monitoring software helps organizational management to determine idle workers when the rest are busy executing production activities. The employer can suck nonproductive employees to replace them with more productive ones to aid in achieving the firm's set goals. The employer can deliver objective performance evaluations that help determine the degree to which production is likely to achieve its set targets. This attracts employee motivation to increase production activities to hit the set goals and objectives within the set timeframe. The employer uses employee monitoring software to ensure quality customer service by eliminating less interaction with the firm's customers. Employers also monitor employees to prevent them from interacting with harmful websites that may pave ways for unauthorized personnel from accessing private organizational data. (Thompson, et al. 2020)
Employee monitoring has several advantages to the organization, including increased productivity as a result of employees working at their level best because they are monitored. Monitoring employees keep their performance track intact hence increasing productivity levels of an organization. It helps in expanding organizational savings due to reduced costs used to mitigate risks that result from employee activities (Kudret, et al. 2019). The organization has increased security measures. The employee activities that may lead to vulnerabilities are discouraged. The organization enjoys the benefits that result from enhanced security strategies in the firm. Employee monitoring helps promote team work among the workers, leading to exchanging ideas and skills during the production process. The employees are, therefore, able to meet the expectations of the firm within the allocated timeframe. The workers also cooperate to make improved decisions that concern production processes. Employee monitoring software is cost-effective since it does not require new monitoring devices; instead, the employer updates the software to date.
According to Jimenez-Ramirez, et al. (2019), the disadvantages that result from the employee monitoring process include hurt feelings of the employees. This is because workers feel that they are intimidated hence killing their performance morale. It is time consuming when comprehending the recorded employee data from the devices. It brings organizational operations into a standstill that, in turn, lowers production output. It interferes with employee social status since it can expose their bank account information and health records to the public. This puts employees at risk of being hacked by enemies who may destroy the market's organizational profile. Employee monitoring process increases worker mistrust in the firm hence causing work dissatisfaction that leads employees to seek jobs in other organizations. In turn, the firm's production output is decreased as a result of the time taken, finding new workers to replace the left gaps. It also causes employees to feel that they do not have complete control of their jobs within the working environment.
The organization should use steps that target cresting awareness to employees about their rights and responsibilities regardless of their privacy in the working environment. These steps include identifying and prioritizing confidential information stored on the firm's websites. Every work is supposed to protect organizational data from vulnerabilities such as breach to prevent unauthorized personnel access who may, in turn, hack the systems bringing production activities to a standstill. The workers have the responsibility of monitoring intruders logging into the organizational networks to confirm their authentication. The employer should also study the current information flow and carry out a risk assessment to ensure that security policies are developed to guide the workers in preventing potential threats to the organization. The workers are also responsible for responding to threats before they adversely spread to the entire organizational systems. (Posey, & Folger, 2020).
The organization should also determine appropriate access, usage, and information distribution policies to ensure workers understand their responsibilities in receiving content in the firm. This helps in creating a pool of activity performance that aid in enhancing security within the organizational boundaries. The risks that result from mismanagement of customer information are mitigated hence improving customer care services in the firm. The top managers should also implement monitoring and enforcement systems to ensure that customers stick to their allocated responsibilities at any given time. Information traffics limited as a result of activity allocation among the workers in specific production fields. The firm management should ensure the review of progress periodically to maximize worker implementation effectiveness. Employers should occasionally hold education and training to keep the workers updated on their responsibilities in the firm. This helps maintain workers in their production lines and improve their responsibilities towards attaining the organizational goals and objectives. (Abouelmehdi, et al. 2018)
