Langston Hughes's poem, "The Negro Speaks of Rivers," marked a significant period in America's history. The entire poem is about the African-Americans who were in the United States in the 1920s. Hughe's literary work reveals how the whites mistreated the Africans through slavery and racial segregation. The whites engaged in the slave trade in Africa, where they took strong and energetic African men to their countries. The white men shipped the Africans to their countries to provide free forced labor on their farms. The poet offers memories of the slave trade and how the Whites mistreated Africans. Abraham Lincoln tried his best to fight for human equality and the abolishment of slavery in the United States. Multiple African-Americans sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom; many of them died due to mistreatment before civilization.
