Music can be defined as the combination of vocal or instrumental sounds in such a way to bring out a beauty of form expression of emotion and harmony. While the advertisement is a notice or announcement in a public publicizing a job vacancy or promoting a certain product or service. Many companies both private and the public have been using music and musician as key a tool during their product promotion. This has been bearing fruit since many companies confess there is an increase in sales and their companies/institutions are becoming more popular. Music can be used in different ways during advertisements. One it can be used as background music during the advisement. Second, it can be a live performance, or third, it can be a roadshow with a band of musicians especially during product promotion. Therefore during advisement music plays a major goal in promotional goals in one way or the other. There are six major categories in which music plays an important role this includes authority establishment, entertainment, memorability, composition and structure, targeting, and continuity (Hecker, 1984).
One of the key roles of music in an advertisement is memorability. A publication alone is not very appealing and can easily be forgotten. Therefore music is added as an ingredient in the advert to make it more memorable. There is a theory that suggests that the initial sound (music) a turn of a cohort possible matches in memory making it easy to recall sounds more than publications Mamaril, 2003).. Therefore music lingers in the listener's mind hence he/she can recall the product or services advertised through that song whenever it plays. A good example is the Waka Waka song by Shakira which is used during football matches. Whenever that song play what lingers to listeners mind is football.
The second role of music in an advertisement is entertainment, composition, structure, and continuity. The entertainment aspect of music makes the advert look more attractive by adding beauty value to it. Therefore due to the beauty value-added by the music the advertisement can attract as many audiences as possible, secondly, the advertisement can capture the attention of the audience. On the other hand, music helps in the composition and structure of an advertisement. This is especially on the broadcasted publications or advertisement music supports by mediating between disjoint images (Furnham, et al., 1997).
The third role of music in an advertisement is targeting and authority establishment. Music is of broad genres. Some music genres are attractive to the young than the old, while also some genres are accepted both by the old and the young. For example, a company targeting to advertise house fittings will use a music genre that will be attractive to both old and youngster. Therefore using different music genres you easily target a certain group. Also using music you can target one's emotions and senses (Abolhasani et al., 2017). The
