It may make the air sacs to be filled with fluids or sometimes pus making the patient cough with pus or phlegm. A pneumonia patient can experience fever, chills, and most frequently difficulty in breathing. The condition is caused by a variety of organism ranging from fungi, bacteria, and even viruses (Rudan et al., 2015). Epidemiological studies have revealed that the condition is most serious for the infants and young children as well as the elder population above 65 years. The condition has severe effects on general immunity of people. Signs and symptoms of pneumonia The manifestation of the condition in infants may differ from that of the older population. Occasionally, individual with poor health status may show severe signs and symptoms of the diseases compared to the active population with good health (Dharmarajan et al., 2013). Victims of pneumonia may have severe chest pain especially during breathing process, production of phlegm during coughing, some may feel fatigue, and infants may have a fever while the condition may lower the body temperature and shortness of breath. Financial impacts Pneumonia condition usually leaves the victims on medications which are expensive to purchase. The condition exposes the family to severe financial constraints as they struggle to raise medication bills and other basic requirements for the patient (Walker et al., 2013).
