Crisis and emergency risk communications are one of the crucial components of public health. In the case of any emergency or crisis, the involved should come up with the best ways of disseminating information to allow the public make informed decisions thus prevent further negative impacts of the crisis (Melanson, Geckle, & Davidson, 2012). This paper seeks to address the outbreak of Zika Virus disease condition and how communication was essential in dealing with the condition.
Zika Virus Disease
Zika virus disease is one of the incidents that have recently affected individuals. It is an incident that broke out in January 2016, and it is still a threat up to present. It is a disease caused by a virus transmitted by the Aedes mosquitoes. It is evident that various communication risks have been put in place by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a way of sensitizing the public and preventing further infections by the condition. Some of the communication resources that have been put in place include the use of videos, print resources and Zika communication toolkits. The communications put forth by CDC have been essential in managing the condition.
