Stress has proven to be causing serious effects on people’s productivity in many areas surrounding their daily living. Just to mention, all of us face stress every day from small annoying things to jam on the reads, too much work at our workplaces and loved ones getting sick. Sometimes getting in problems may be with the authorities among other things. Under such cases, people get stressed in which the heartbeat rate will increase, they get anxious and nervous, breathing rate rises as muscles get tensed. Scientists claim that such a response to stress is normal when we get into such tough situations. Because of the challenges facing people's lives which triggers stress, there is a need to develop healthy ways of overcoming stress. One way is through the development of the relaxation response through various techniques developed by Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard University. The relaxation responses will oppose the stress responses which humans undergo while under stressful situations.
This paper will dwell much on the relevant healthy ways to control and reduce stress or overcome a stressful situation.
