Such prescription is necessary because the patient not only has hypertension but is also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes too.
A combination of drugs, especially two drugs if possible, should be deiced upon from previous therapy options (Campbell, 2011). Patient dosage in the absence of contra-indicators, control through diuretics are advisable (Campbell, 2011), a higher dosage of diuretic medication are necessary for resistant hypertension. Such might mean a change in medication schedule from the one the patient has been in the past years. For increased dosage, medication can be administered twice a day depending on the practitioner's prescriptions.
