Informatics and Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators
The NDNQI is a nationwide database charged with reporting on nursing-sensitive quality indicators to assess nursing services at the unit level. American Association of Nurses (ANA) formed the database to track and report quality indicators highly reliant on nursing practice and activities (Oner et al., 2021). The nursing-sensitive quality indicators are related to structure, process, and outcome in nursing care.
Nursing-sensitive quality indicators are indicators of nursing care organization, procedure, and result. They are structural indicators that encompass the amount of nursing personnel, their abilities, and their certification level. Patient evaluations, nurse interventions, and nursing career satisfaction are all process indicators. Patient outcomes such as accidents and pressure ulcers are examples of outcome indicators.
