Isolation and quarantine are interventions designed by the public health to enhance the health of the population by separating people who are infected or those that have come to contact to patients interests, it is imperative that the exercise be carried out in a human manner that respects the patients human rights. The patient should be made aware that the exercise is done for the best interest of his personal well-being and the community at large (CDCP, 2015).
According to CDCP (2015) it is imperative for a country to have a formal law that that governs the process of quarantine in the event of an emergency or an outbreak of a contagious disease. This is because the process quarantine and isolation restricts the individual’s liberties and may go against personal interests. The whole process has to be backed by the law so as to compel those people who might voluntarily refuse to comply with the directive for the benefit of the public health.CDCP (2015) argues that in the event of an emergency, restrictions of the infected persons is justifiable when it is backed by the constitution since the community well-being supersedes individual liberties in the constitution.
