According to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), health research is defined as “a systematic investigation, including research development, testing and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge (Institute of Medicine, Board on Health Care Services, Board on Health Sciences Policy, & Committee on Health Research and the Privacy of Health Information: The HIPAA Privacy Rule, 2009).” Health research is important to society in that it provides us with different health trends that are vital to the promotion of the recommended standard for evidence-based medicine (EBM) (Meza & Passerman, 2011). In every health research, statistics is paramount; it is through the analysis of the data collected from health research that conclusions are made. In this study unit, a couple of statistical analysis approaches were evaluated, including correlations, t-test, ANOVA and nonparametric tests. The purpose of this paper is to provide an in-depth analysis of different types of statistical analyses, including correlations, t-test, and nonparametric tests.
