It is a chronic illness that affects about 374 million globally. As a result, it is presently ranked among the prevalent non-communicable diseases in the world. In the US, within the past five years, a number of people with diabetes has increased rapidly, making the country to be among the top ten most affected nations with diabetes. In 2018, an estimated 34.3 million Americans, nearly 10.5 % of the populace, had diabetes (“Statistics about Diabetes,” 2020). Despite the mortality and morbidity associated with neuropathy, retinopathy, and nephropathy, the cardiovascular illness is still the leading cause of death. The pathophysiology of diabetes is characterized by hepatic glucose impaired production regulation, declining function of β-cell, and insulin peripheral resistance. In this case, the patient is a relative with diabetes signs due to her age (65 years), and the formulation of a primary prevention-teaching plan can help her manage the disease.
