Introduction

Most hospitals have implemented bedside reporting for nurses to improve patient safety outcomes. Bedside reporting for nurses allows assessment of the patient by both the outgoing and incoming, examining various safety errors for the patient, and involving the patient as part of the care plan. Most of the time, based on the patient understanding and load, it might be the first time the oncoming nurse is meeting the patient, making it hard for staffing among many healthcare organizations. With the bedside reporting for nurses, patients can engage both the incoming and outgoing nurses for different shifts. However, during shifts, most of the patients are affected by bedside reporting for nurses, and it might also lead to the loss of important care information. Even though bedside reporting is supposed to be conducted by nurses, there are various barriers such as lack of guidelines, lack of privacy, and discomfort when with the patient lively. Typically, most patients like and want to be involved in their plan. Normally, to maintain the patient’s well-being and safety, there is a need to embrace communication as critical.
