Reflection
The Doctor of Nursing Practice prepares a practice nurse to take up a high-level career where they will attain proficiency in the delivery of complex care. Additionally, they will be able to positively influence healthcare in areas such as health policy creation, and clinical nursing education. Furthermore, a DNP program provides a high level of credibility to nurses who want to integrate evidence-based care, systems of care and measure outcomes of healthcare on communities. Evidence-based treatment is a current mode of treatment that a DNP should be well versed in. Evidence-based research uses statistics, research methods, data analyses, and evaluation. This paper explores the benefits of evidence-based research, the uses of statistical methods in practice and positive mentorship in the success of a DNP.
Self-Assessment
At the end of the DNP program, I will have the necessary knowledge needed to integrate theory into practice while using the DNP competences. This program will enable me to effectively evaluate and translate research, to solve practice problems. I will also be able to brush up my statistics knowledge and be able to utilize this knowledge in research and theory. The use of knowledge and skills from other disciplines such as philosophy, business, and ethics will also creating a more integrative approach to my DNP career.
