Mexican Americans have been defined as Americans who are either full or partial Mexican descent. As of 2016, Mexican Americans constituted about18% of the US population, as 46 million America residents noted to be full or partial Mexican ancestry. In 2016, Mexican Americans constituted 69 % of all Hispanics and Latinos in America (Mintz, 2009). America is home to the 2nd biggest Mexican society globally, 2nd only to Mexico , and making up over 25% of the whole Mexican-origin population globally.
Canada is a position three with a smaller Mexican Canadian population of 96,050 (0.2% of the population) as of 2011. More than 59% of all Mexican Americans live in the states of California and Texas. In 2015, America admitted 157,200 Mexican immigrants, and towards the end of 2016, over one million Mexicans were on the waiting list to immigrate to America via legal means (Mintz, 2009).
