Introduction
Miranda v Arizona 1966, is a Supreme Court case where the court by a majority decision ruled that the Fifth Amendment prohibited self-incrimination applied to an individual while in police custody (Ashenmiller 21). Further, the court ruled that prohibition against self-incrimination extended to individuals who were deprived of the freedom of action in any given way In safeguarding this right, the court directed that people being questioned must be informed of the right to remain silent, and that anything they say can be used against them in a court of law. The paper will evaluate how the historical context of the case and how it affects the society.
