For my concept map, I have decided to select global warming as my preferred topic of choice.
Figure SEQ Figure \* ARABIC 1: Global warming concept map
The global health consequences and the decline in sea turtle population are clearly understood in the global warming concept map. Illegal poaching and trade, climate change, and habitat destruction are the reasons behind the turtles’ decline. Reduced population and nesting habitat among the sea turtles have been caused by anthropogenic developments, such as, buildings in coastal areas. Climate change, another anthropogenic disturbance, is also a cause of population reduction among the sea turtles. If the tolerance level of some turtles is compromised, they will not be able to survive the high temperatures that result from increased temperatures of the sand. Skewed sex ratios result from this and end up reducing the turtle numbers. Poaching and illegal trade also causes the turtle population to go down. Sea turtles’ population is also affected inadvertently by an unintended activity called bycatch (Botkin et al., 2007).
