Thesis
Global warming is the steady heating of Earth's surface, oceans and atmosphere. It is caused by human activity especially burning of fossil fuels that pump carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Introduction
Global warming results when carbon dioxide, other air pollutants and greenhouse gases collect in the space absorbing sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. Usually the radiation escapes into space—but these pollutants, which last for a long time in the atmosphere, holding heat causing the planet to be hotter. This is what is referred to as the greenhouse effect.
Researchers have found that the increase in earth’s temperatures are resulting to longer and hotter heat waves, often droughts, heavier rainfall, and more powerful hurricanes. In 2015, for instance, researchers said that the drought in California had been intensified by 15 percent to 20 percent by global warming. They also found that the odds of similar droughts occurring in the future had roughly doubled over the past century. And in 2016, the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine announced that it’s now possible to confidently associate certain weather events, like some heat waves, directly to climate change.

Researchers have also found that global warming brings about illness such as allergies, asthma, and infectious disease. These outbreaks will become more as a result of increased growth of pollen producing ragweed, high levels of air pollution, and the conditions favorable to pathogens and mosquitoes.
One of the primary manifestations of climate change so far is glacier melting. North America, Europe and Asia have all seen a trend toward less snow cover (Kunkel et al 2016). According to the scholars, there is no permanently frozen ground as there was in the past in the Northern hemisphere. The thawing of permafrost can lead to landslides and other sudden land collapses.
The effects of global warming on the ecosystems are expected to be severe and widespread. Many types of plants and animals are already moving or migrating to favorable regions. They are simply following the range of comfortable temperatures, which tends to migrate to the poles as the global temperature becomes hotter. Ultimately, this becomes a problem when the rate of climate change velocity is faster than the rate that many living things can migrate. As a result of this, many animals may not be ab
