Abstract
Every workplace is vulnerable to disasters and risks as long as daily routine practices are being carried out. These risks and disasters, once they occur could lead to slowing down of daily routine or even collapsing of a company and therefore need to be predicted, avoided, mitigated and contained so as to ensure normalcy of operations as much as possible. The best way to do this is to lay down step by step strategies on how to avoid these disasters and risks as much as possible and also act quickly to contain the consequences of these disasters once they occur. These step by step strategies constitutes the disaster recovery plan. Every company must therefore make sure they have a well-structured disaster recovery plan in order to always avoid the causes of risks, ensure a quick resumption of normalcy once the disasters occur and reduce the effects of these risks and threats as much as possible. The process of development of disaster recovery plan is not a generic process. This means that each company has a unique disaster recovery plan depending on the uniqueness of the activities the company is involved in. A company may also have as many disaster recovery plans as there are number of departments in the company. This means that each department may develop a disaster recovery plan different from any other plan of a single department in the company because each department has unique processes and hence unique risks, hazards and disasters that faces it.
