This assignment checks your understanding of the topics in the first module related to ethics, management as a science, and the impacts of planning and organization. 1. Read the Critical Thinking Case of Chapter 1 (Ch. 1 Critical Thinking Case New Management Challenges for the New Age )  respond to the three questions at the end of the case. Each response should use a detail or more from the case and a specific concept from the chapter. 2. Related to Chapter 3 studies, the Industrial Revolution changed the way work was done, as we moved from working for ourselves to moving to the city and working for others.  What major change of similar impact might you see in the next 20 years of work? Related to Chapter 4 studies, imagine you are working for a pet walking service.  Find and describe two different external environment changes that may impact this company.  It's easy to misunderstand external environments.   Think about how you might be busy running this business with day-to-day work, and then some big change occurs outside the normal scope of work (external environment) that causes you to make changes to your core business.  Much of the rest of our course focuses inward, so use this chance to look outside.
4. Related to Chapter 5 studies, read question 1 of the Managerial Decision
Exercises   (Links to an external site.)and respond to the question that asks you to explain what you would do and why. Ensure your explanation demonstrates the use of specific terms and concepts from the chapter.  Most react to this situation, but the question requires you to think more deeply and show how the reaction demonstrates specific concepts from the chapter.
