Intervention Strategy to Ensure the Employees' Morale
XYZ is a social service organization offering shelter to victims of domestic violence. The organization has been in service since 2010. Although the organization has been successful in providing help to victims of domestic violence for all those years, the situation has changed since the COVID-19 pandemic was pronounced in 2019. The number of clients has been on the increase due to not many cases of domestic violence. The upsurge in the many clients has become difficult to manage because of the limited resources of the organization. Employees feel that their morale has been lowered because of the workload, and no salary increment has been made since 2019 when the number of clients started to increase. In this regard, there is a need to develop an intervention strategy to ensure that the employees' morale is raised for them to improve service delivery to the clients.
Studies have shown that work attitudes play a critical role in determining the performance of an organization (Aldgate, 2007). In the current situation, employees feel overworked, but the wages remain the same. For this reason, using planned intervention to change the current situation would yield positive results. Although there is limited research about interventions by social services organizations, studies from business organizations have shown that planned interventions can make organizations more effective (Glisson et., 2012). The intervention involves identifying issues raised by the employees for them not to perform as expected. When they feel that their problems are not being addressed, they develop negative attitudes towards their work and the organization.
