Organizational fairness refers to the perception on whether employees have been treated justly by the organization that employs them. Organizational fairness is based on whether the actions or decisions made by the organization towards their employees are characterized by ethics, moral uprightness, equity, and adherence to the legal frameworks. The firing of employees who get backlash from social media after making a post about controversial issues in the society is one of the contentious issues in organization fairness. For instance, Gina Carano a former employee of the Lucasfilms a subsidiary of Disney that starred in The Mandalorian television series was fired after making a politically controversial post on Instagram that was met with massive backlash. The firing of Gina Carano was unfair because the organization denied her the due process, her freedom of expression, employed double standards and was heavily influenced by cancel culture which is similar to McCarthyism violated all the forms of organizational fairness.
