You are tasked with selecting the best software packages for the firm’s materials requirements planning (MRP), capacity requirement planning (CRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management, inventory control, shop floor control, and production planning scheduling needs.
This project has two parts:
Part 1
In the first part of the project, identify the specifics of your company: size, products, production schedule, what your company is capable of producing daily, when and how you order supplies, when and how you purchase supplies, shipping and distribution requirements. Once you have a handle on what your company needs are, use web resources to evaluate at least six software systems available and the pros and cons of each.
Part 2
Decide which software best meets the need of your manufacturing company. Based on the information gathered, you will work to write a "Software Recommendations Report" that you will submit to the chief executive. Justify your recommendations by analyzing the pros and cons of each of the six software systems you evaluated. You will need to include information such as cost, compatibility with current systems and work flow processes, functionality, ease of use, and end user support

The Company’s Specifics
Every manufacturing firm lays down the procedures and strategies for effective and quality production of the goods and services and at the same time lowering the production costs. The mock manufacturer of Electronics Company used for this case study is Bliss Technology Solutions Company. The firm is situated in Texas, with its distribution stations distributed in several countries globally. Bliss Company specializes in the manufacturing and sale of capacitors; a device used in almost all electronic devices for the regulation of electrical energy. The company strives to achieve operational efficiency by fine-tuning the production processes to achieve the set scale of production. Indeed, the company manufactures around 5billion capacitors annually, especially the surface-mount capacitors for automotive, aerospace, computers, communication systems, and military equipment. Most of the company’s sales are outside the US.
Essentially, the company produces the devices throughout the year to meet the constant customer demand. The projection and assessment of sales is done quarterly. Bliss Company sells most of its electronic products through direct sales and customer service methods. The team of workers and direct sales representatives are an added advantage to the company since the company experiences higher sales in regions where direct sales representatives are deployed. International sales are made through Europe, Canada, Brazil, Asia, and Mexico. However, distributions are ordered prior to distribution to the various clients. The firm believes that it has all the requirements and resources to meet the necessary manufacturing and distribution scales. Currently, the company has three sources of supplies for the materials required in the processing of the capacitors. Tantalum is the main raw resource in form of ore and powder, which the company obtains from its suppliers. Russia and South Africa also supply to the company palladium, a raw material presently found in the two countries. The typical distribution channels are reception of the raw materials from the suppliers to the various manufacturing centers for the company.
