Abstract
This dissertation measures the concept of environmental sustainability and sustainable development with a focus Fishing, Mining and Tourism in achieving this.
The goal of this dissertation is to assess the efforts made to cut down the impact of environmental degradation through sustainable. Excessive stress on environmental sustainability utilizing some strategies could harm the economic exercises of a nation through loss of employment and societal catastrophes while on the other hand, too much stress on economic growth could end into health hazards, global warming and biosphere degradation within the community. This dissertation further addresses the necessity to strive towards an equilibrium between biosphere sustainability and economic development. Sustainable environment and development can only be realized through the integration of policies that connect the environment, the economy, and the society. Also, the paper analyzes some strategic initiatives adopted by some the three sectors mentioned in order to promote sustainability through the establishment of policies that connect the society, environment, and economy.

INTRODUCTION
1 BACKGROUND
The Republic of Chile (18,191,884 habitants) is a country located in the American continent, specifically in the southeastern part of the South America, being Santiago Chile its political capital (the largest city with more than 6 million habitants).
Chile has a long and narrow geomorphology, 4270 km long and 445 km narrow, neighboring to Perú on the North, Bolivia in the Northeast, Argentina to the East all along the Cordillera range and to the Pacific Ocean in the West having a costal line of more than 6000 km. Chile has 756,096 km2 (considering the insular (e.g. Easter and Juan Fernández islands) and continental territories). Due to Chile’s particular geography there are a vast variety of ecosystems, topographies, vegetation to be found, and almost all of the world’s climates can be found Chile (Gitlin & Fuentes, 2012).
According to several sources, Chile is considered to be developing country and is expected to be a fully developed country within the next 10 years. Chile has been one of the fastest and long-time growing economies of Latin America, the average growth for the Chilean economy during the last 10 years has been 5% per year, despite the global financial crisis in 2009 and the stagnation in the mining sector in 2014, which led to the falling of the GDP growth, rise of unemployment from 5,7% in July 2013 to 6,6% in June 2014.
The Chilean economy is characterized mainly as a market-oriented economy; high foreign trade, healthy financial institutions and sound market liberal policies, resulting in exports of goods and services being almost one third of the national GDP, as a matter of fact; copper mining exports constitute almost 20% of the governmental revenues (Worldbank (2017) (CIA 2017).
