When you hear the word hypnosis, what comes to mind? For most people due to media influence, when the word hypnosis is mentioned, the mind skips to a controlled environment with a hypnotherapist swing a pocket watch over your face. According to DR. Hypnosis was not accepted in mainstream academia until the late 1800s when two schools were opened to study this phenomenon. The two schools “the school of Nancy” and “the school of Salpetriere” used contrasting approaches to investigate hypnosis.
