How Psychologists View the Three Treatment Approaches Today
Psychologists today perceive all three approaches as appropriate interventions, each with different strengths and capabilities. The humanistic approach is perceived as important to upholding one’s morality, good intentions, and ethical values using behavior-driven forces. It uses approaches that are adverse and psychological. This method is viewed as effective in treating anxiety through understanding the causal reason for such anxiety in patients. For instance, after listening to the psychologist, Jake would be advised to have more self-understanding and to work on his ability to release tension and focus on the strengths he possesses to overcome a situation. Therapists could also use positive self-regard wherein a patient would be advised to have a positive outlook about situations regardless of how difficult they may seem. In the humanistic approach, the patient is interviewed and observed which will allow psychologists to understand his thoughts and experiences indirectly as the patient is going through them.
