I have settled on a BBC news article dated 19th July 2019 on the United States of America Migration Crisis. This topic particularly interests me since immigration policy was a signature issue during President Trump's campaign. His proposals and remarks generated enormous debate and vast publicity across the globe. Notably, draconian policies such as the deportation of undocumented immigrants who have stayed in the US for over two years without being taken to court continue to yield anxiety and discontent among various quotas ("US brings in new fast-track deportation rule," 2019). Besides, denying asylum seekers entry casts a spell on the long-standing and globally revered doctrine of non-refoulment under the international law and specific human rights law. Newspapers are full of stories of people dying in the US-Mexico border as they try to cross ("Is there a crisis on the US-Mexico border?" 2019). Most controversially, a few months ago, many immigrant children were alienated from their parents, an act that can only be rightly construed as an abuse of child rights. In the words of Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, "It is an atrocity that violates every value we have, not only as Americans but as moral beings."
