ETHNICITY IN KENYA.
Ethnicity is a major or minor war that occurs between different groups of population eg.tribes, for a certain interest like land, water resources, jobs, political differences, cultural differences, criminal activities, cattle rustling, theft and population geography. Ethnic issues in Kenya have been a threat to regional peace as was witnessed at its peak in the year 2007-2008 post election violence.
Various factors that lead to the ethnicity in Kenya can be avoided through various means. These factors are: cattle raiding which is mostly experienced in the northern part of Kenya and parts of rift valley regions, political incitement which has been the main cause of this. This is as a result of selfish leaders and leadership which have secured a big space in this country. This was at its peak in the year 2007-2008 when Kenya experienced greatest post election violence. Limited water and pasture resource which is mostly seen in northern Kenya eg.Turkana, Pokot, Samburu and Maasai land. Terrorism where it is believed that certain communities are involved in this malicious act hence creating differences between populations. Land issues in some areas like central part of Kenya forcing shift of population from this region to other spacious areas like Rift valley areas. Due to cultural differences and difference life styles and political interests create conflicts in this region as for the case of post election violence in 2007-2008.Bad leadership leading to inequitable sharing of national resources among communities.
In conclusion, to curb this, political structures should be streamlined to allow free and fare elections. There must be equal sharing of public reso...
