Introduction
According to the bible book of revelation 2:14, “He will wipe every tear from your eyes. There will be no death or mourning or crying or pain, for the older things have passed away.” This book shows that grief and loss is a painful thing or experience in human life that makes it difficult for humans to overcome. The scripture illustrates that overcoming grief requires strategies to be adopted, including finding solace in God’s word. In the world, humans are faced with challenging moments that arise from loss. Therefore, understanding loss will help people establish how to deal with or manage grief and loss when faced with different scenarios. This paper will explore my personal experience regarding my loss and grief journey. The discussion will revolve around how I dealt with and overcame the loss. Therefore, the paper will provide the overall idea of personal loss and how various individuals cope in situations where they experience loss.
Grief, Loss, and Bereavement
Loss is the circumstance where an individual loses something that they deeply connect with or value. In human life, every individual has experienced loss at a certain point in life. Grief is defined as the reaction or response to emotion, including extreme sadness and confusion, to any loss. Grief is the emotional stimulus of the loss of a loved one. It is characterized by deep sorrow and emotions like anger, pain, and crying. When a person loses a loved one, they often feel shocked, numb, and empty. People suffering from grief due to any loss may experience physical symptoms like panic attacks, nausea, and insomnia. The mental conditions associated with grief and bereavement involve post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, guilt, anger, and cognitive behavioral issues like withdrawal.
