More studies show the importance of physical contact with your infant and how this affects the development as a social species. How often you touch or give physical care to your baby is critical for the growth and further development of the infant – presented in an article in the journal Pediatric Child Health. This claim is strengthened by a new study from scientists at the University of British Columbia and BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Physical contact or little physical contact actually affects deeper into the DNA and the chromosomes of an infant.
Scientists from the University of British Columbia and BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute followed 100 infants over four years, studying behaviour and how often and how long they cared physically about their baby. After four and a half years of study, the scientists took a DNA sample and swabbed the inside of the cheek of the children to see the difference between infants who had high-physical-contact and those who had less physical contact.
