Psychology in Publicity
Thousands of years have passed since our ancestors used soot and other colored materials to draw in cave walls and now, we can see how things have progressed. We are now able to freeze moments in time with the use of camera and edit the colors and form of images to our liking using photo editing software. The ability to do that spark changes in the field of advertising but along with it, changes in the society as well. In John Berger’s Ways of seeing, it tells how publicity images or advertisement changed the society by depending and exploiting human emotions, most especially greed. It exploits the insatiable hunger of people for what they do not have, and it creates social construct that determines how people must respond to certain things.
