Is it possible for the U.S. Government to employ dual-use, all-hazards systems to protect U.S. transportation systems and critical infrastructure? Provide an example of a dual-use, security/safety system for both a transportation system and a component of critical infrastructure that would address the risk of terrorism and other non-intentional hazards (either man-made or natural).
I think the US is capable of employing dual-use, all-hazard systems meant to protect US critical infrastructure and transportation systems. Although I believe such an intervention is possible, the employment would obviously experience significant challenges because of the multi-layered security strategies. The US has in the past, fail to propagate the best reactive measures because of persistent failures of addressing major US weaknesses.
