Volkswagen Group AG is one of the most successful motor vehicle producers in Europe and across all parts of the world. It is concerned with the construction, creation, and production of vehicles. In the last fiscal year, the company recorded a high of 201.1 billion euros in terms of revenue gained from the sale of its products. The paper involves an analysis of the external environment of the business entity using the PESTLE framework where civic, economic, sociocultural, technological, environmental, and legal aspects that impact the operations of Volkswagen Company directly. The analysis of the automobile industry using the company was conducted through the application of Porter's five forces model which include the discussion of the negotiating authority of providers and buyers, the competitive rivalry between incumbent players, the risk of substitutes and new participants in the market. The analysis of capabilities using the VRIO framework was also conducted. A SWOT analysis was used to describe the internal and external forces that determine the productivity of the Volkswagen Company.
