1 INTRODUCTION
This research project aims at analyzing the mediation strategies that were used or are used to solve the existing Israel-Palestinian conflict. This conflict has been in existence for over 70 years since it started (USIP 2017). Many international bodies and foreign governments have tried to mediate the two warring government but they are faced with many challenges. Among other nations, United Nations, European Union, United States and Egypt have been at the forefront in offering peace talks between Israeli government and Palestinian government. However, peace has not been entirely achieved as the conflicts sparks after every few years. In some instances, conflict reaches a manifest state when involved parties go beyond the cognitive and affective states and engage in overt behaviors (Brown & Day 1981). The study by Brown and Day (1981) defined manifest conflict as a conflict that one party in a conflict tries to frustrate efforts of another party from reaching their goals. This is seen in the conflict between Palestine and Israeli because, Palestinians wanted self-rule and return of their land. On the other hand, Israelis were not willing to return lands they took from Palestinians. These territories had been created under British Mandate Palestine but Israel stole them from Palestine (Berrebi & Klor, 2006). As a result, the Palestinians retaliate by attacking the Israelites and the conflict continues. To understand why it has been difficult to achieve peace between the two countries, this research project starts with history and background of this conflict.
