Abstract:
Mentorship remains the most recommended method of training in the international context, this paper therefore, examines the concept of mentorship and its role in the development of capacity of trainees in the work environment. The mentorship programme has been embraced by many organisations as an alternative method of developing the capacity of the employees. The paper further analyses the effectiveness of mentorship programmes by highlighting the benefits of mentorship to the learners and the appropriate relationship that exists between the mentor and the mentee for the mentorship programme to work best and the learners understands the key areas that needs improvements.
Secondly the paper will present personal accounts and experiences during the mentorship simulation program and shares the experiences and also learn the importance of mentorship programme and experience in the development of capacity. The report targets to highlight the specific issues that the mentorship programme should take into consideration when developing the programme me on and how to address the challenges associated with mentorship as a method of training to help trainees to achieve personal learning and career development objectives.
