A Business Confronted with an Issue
The article by Bryant Furlow reflects on Lovelace Women’s Hospital, which was accused of racially profiling Native American women (Furlow 1). In responding to the allegation, the health care company decided to hide documents related to the allegation and discourage cooperation with state investigators. In particular, the firm's workers pointed out that documents were removed from nursing stations, encompassing coronavirus screening and treatment protocols (Furlow 1). In essence, the health care company did not provide a response to the allegations, to avoid making the issue even more extensive. The firm’s spokeswoman declined to respond to continuous requests for remark about the accusations on how the health center’s management team had tried to impede police investigation.
The firm’s action impact did not mirror their mission statement. As other healthcare organization, Lovelace Women’s Hospital’s mission statement must be focused on delivering excellent and quality health care services to patients. In that respect, the firm's approach of not responding to allegations does not align with its mission statement.
