Combat Stress and its Cure.
Combat stress is defined as the inherent emotional and psychological uneasiness that is experienced by the army or members of the armed forces and other fighters due to exposure to danger and due to the demands that come with the demands of serving in the battlefield or a combat environment (Mulvaney et al. 1133-1140) . Another term that can be used to refer to combat stress is Combat Occupational Stress Reactions (COSR) which are the expected, intellectual, predictable, emotional, physical or behavioral reactions that service members or the army experience during their numerous military or combat operations. Combat stress reactions can be in two diverse ways. One is that it can happen and cause a service man to adapt to the environment and making him or her resilient and more focused on ensuring that the mission at hand is accomplished. The other way is that it can be maladaptive in that it leads to misconducts of which can result in disciplinary actions being taken up on the service man where in extreme cases, he or she can be expelled from duty or create a possibility of incarceration. This paper seeks to critically argue about the methods and strategies used to aid the veterans in overcoming the stress.
