In a two-page response paper explain how:
Maria Werner talks about the changes Perrault in his (17th century) version made to the much earlier original oral version of the tale written down by Delarue (see reading above), and the motivation behind the Grimms’ brothers (19th century) version of the tale. Compare and contrast these three versions of LRRH from the above readings, explaining how the variations change the focus of each tale.

Perrault made changes to his 17th century versions of the Little Red Riding Hood by doctoring the text and changing its formal structure to make it sophisticated. One of the changes made by Perrault is that the version has a changed formulaic structure in the dialogue. The dialogue in the tale has a symmetrical repetition, which changed the focus of the tale from the story to the dialogue. The tale-teller has created a folktale using various stylistic devices. The objective of stylizing the text is to outline the qualities of antiquity and authenticity. It also intends to emphasize on the audience of the tale, which is children. Another hallmark of Perrault’s tale is the tragic ending.
