As of the start of human subsistence, music and words have always been merged to educate, uplift and entertain. Songs are powerful instruments especially through the lyrics. A music lyric is a tool that is used to unite people who have a mutual purpose. Songs such as national anthems, Christian hymns, theme songs for various sports teams each defines certain groups as entities that are unique. Songs such as National Anthems unite the citizens of a nation. They also serve the purpose of portraying the image of the country on international platforms. School songs have the purpose of uniting students and teachers of the school from within. The identity and public image of the school are bound up in these songs. This only shows that music is a very powerful contrivance in human life (Tomlinson et al, 24).
Education has the burden of instilling knowledge, expanding minds and churning out responsible morally upright individuals into the society. Today, many curse words have lost their original connotation; are either used out of the intended context and many treat uttering them as a dearth of imagination and vocabulary. Their continued use diminishes an individual’s ability to communicate effectively (Tomlinson et al, 24).
Education is meant to inform individuals on cultural values of their society and aid in shaping them to fit in the society. The power to elevate is confined in music.
