“Your Life Story” is a Ted Talk by Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt that focuses on helping the audience to navigate their life crises. In other words, the speakers urged the audience to use story structures to understand how to deal with life challenges. The Story structure (4:48) is identified to have three parts; the Setup, the conflict, and the resolution. This is the canvas upon which the speakers placed the ideas, and the story structure can be identified as the backbone of this presentation. Starting with the backbone helps to get the attention of the audience.
This speech aims to enlighten people on how they can deal with life challenges. Providing people with a blueprint of what to expect when faced with a crisis and how to get out of the crisis. Throughout the talk, the speakers have used different relatable supporting material that helps the proper comprehension of their speech. The speech mainly used movies and celebrity entertainers like Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) as support materials. Once in the speech, Tara asked, “what would the Rock do?” In Willy Wonka and the Factory Speech (8:08), Charlie's Story is another supporting material that helped the speech. These are movies that most people are accustomed to; hence it is relatable.
Throughout the speech, the speakers used the problem solution speech organization.
