Alternative Medicine to Treat PTSD as Opposed to Pharmaceutical Medications
Introduction
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, PTSD, is an example of a mental disease affecting many individuals around the world. The disease is caused by various factors such as exposure to traumatic life events. Most vulnerable individuals to this condition are military personnel, accident victims, or any other person who had faced a challenging moment in the past (Wynn, Gary 68). PTSD is manageable, especially through administering specific medicine, or alternative medicine to the patients to minimize stress and depression resulting from the condition. I decided to choose this topic because I am aiming at proving the benefits of alternative medicine, other than the pharmaceutical medications in the treatment of PTSD.My current position on this topic is that using alternative medicine such as yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and micro-dosing lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is more productive than pharmaceutical medication since; the alternative methods of treating the PTSD seem to be involving the patient in fighting the condition. There is a need to include patient in the treatment process, where they are expected to play a leading role would assist in resetting their mental structure, which may help with overcoming the depression and effects caused by the mental condition.
