Should Assisted Suicide Be Illegal?
In most cases, people suffering from terminal illnesses such as cancer, brain tumor, among others, tend to lose their hopes of living happy lives like others. According to Simmons (437), such patients tend to experience unimaginable pain, both physically and psychologically, leaving them with nothing than desiring death. In some cases, when they visit their doctors, what they only get from them is the number of days they are remaining with to live, and how painful the end may be. To some patients, this makes them lose hope, opting for assistance from the doctors to abort the kind of pain they are going through. They tend to consider assisted suicide to save them from severe pain, time, and resources. However, this does not sound morally upright to both the patients, their relatives, and the physicians (Weir,1997). Basing on the humanitarian, biblical, and professional perspectives, there is no rationale for legalizing assisted suicide in society.
